Dragonlance Chronicles: Dragons of Autumn Twilight Dragons of Winter Night Dragons of Spring Dawning By Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis These books are the original in the Dragonlance series. Any Dungeons and Dragons fans out there should read these books - they are written by the creators of the game. This is an awesome trilogy. The first book picks up the story of a group who have known each other for years. There's a dwarf, a kender, a half-elf, a warrior, a knight, and a mage at the beginning who agreed five years before to meet back up at a certain time. Each has gone their own way and they all bring different stories to the meeting. But one of the original group never shows. They meet at an inn and the story goes from there. Dark forces are trying to take over their world. Rumors of the return of dragons are starting to spread. Talk of war abounds. From the first chapter, you are thrown into a world already steeped in its own history. All the characters have a backstory (that you can go back and read in the Preludes Sextet) and the entire land has a backstory. If you are going to read any Dragonlance books, start with these three. The first, Dragons of Autumn Twilight, is still one of my favorite books of all time. I highly recommend this series! ;D

I am also a Dragonlance fan! Raistlin is one of my favorite characters, but I have to say I honeslty like all of them, though Caramon and Riverwind were probably my least favorite. I got turned on to these books in middle school and still read the series, although every few years I go back and read Chronicles. I even bought the Annotated Chronicles!
Great review of the trilogy. I couldn't have put it better myself. Weis and Hickman (and all the others who contributed to building Krynn) did an outstanding job of really creating a world you could believe. Even in the first book, they write about wars and people from hundreds of years ago, and they even came up with the story of creation for the world!
Anyway, I also recommend these books - to anyone!

I have the Annotated Chronicles myself. This is such a great series, even for people who aren't fans of dragons, etc. I don't much like the warrior characters either, but I did like Sturm.
I really appreciated the work that went into creating this series. The history of the world is comparable to the history that Tolkien came up with in LOTR. So much detail, and so solid, that it was easy to believe it all.

I just started this series. I'm about halfway through the first book and I like it a lot so far. I can't wait to read the rest of the books. I guess my favorite character is Goldmoon. She's so strong!

Goldmoon is very cool. After you read the Chronicles, you should read the Preludes. There's more on her in them.

Goldmoon is also in some of the books after the Chronicles. She's one of the best female characters ever, in my opinion. And I enjoyed seeing her in later books. And Tas.

Well, my favorite character is Sturm, of course. Now he's a strong character. He never bends or breaks.
This is a great series. These are my favorite books. I also suggest that you read the Preludes, PrincessButtercup.

I hope you are enjoying the trilogy, NikeAthena.
The second book is very different from the first. In the first, there's a sense of companionship and a sort of carefree spirit. But even in the beginning of the second, there's a great foreboding and weight that isn't present even in the darkest moments of the first.

That is a good way to say it, Sturm.
NikeAthena, did you finish the trilogy while you were away? I know school doesn't leave much room for extra reading, but I was wondering what you thought about the whole.
