I wrote this as a short story kind of thing. It doesn't really have a final closed ending, because it was just me free writing. Maybe someday it will become a much longer tale.
The cops never found out, but it was something that would have really helped.
Mr. Rickferd, age 75, was an old man who everyone was afraid to talk to. He was quite.
And he was always diging in his back yard. No one was sure why, but of course, rumors
began to spread.
"Mr. Rickferd sure does dig a lot. Especially ever since those two children went missing
two blocks away." The neighbors would say.
"He is always digging. Maybe he just likes garndering."
The two childeren that had gone missing were only 8, and 11.
They were both last seen playing on the street corner.
One male, One female. No clues to where they could be have been given yet.
Whispers had been spoken of Mr. Rickferd about him maybe kidnapping the Children.
But no evidence has pointed to it.
Mr. Rickferd spent most of his time inside building onto his old train set, that was
also a full scale model of the town. It was like a play set to him.
He even had little toy figures that lived in the toy town. Some of them looked closely
to the people in the town. Like the mayor. Or the town's book store owner. Or even
the two children who went missing. Most people would feel very uneasy around something
so big, and almost realilistic as Mr. Rickferds train set. But it was his favorite thing to do.
He would paint all the buildings, trees, and houses himself. Everything in his train set,
except for the train and rails, were handmade by Mr. Rickferd.
The train, he had painted to look like the one that would pass by his house every sunday evening
at 7 o'clock. He even had all the cars painted the same color for the right house. Even lawn
ornaments were where they should be. Mr. Rickferd never got out much. So those who have seen
his train set, mainly his neighbors who had come over to say "hello" when they first moved in,
always wondered how he kept the train set up to date.
If you asked anyone of Mr. Rickferds neighbors, they would tell you the creepy rumor of how
Mr. Rickferd uses the train set as a kind of "voo-doo" (as the people would call it). Its rumored
that a man named Adam Tucker had lived next to Mr. Rickferd many many years ago, and
Adam had a pet dog. His pet dog would always dig up his neighbors yard, making Mr. Rickferd
so mad that he finally went over to Adam Tucker's house and told him,"If you don't put that mut
on a chain, believe me, you will wish you had."
Adam Tucker walked home from work one day, the same day that his dog had dug another hole in
Mr. Rickferd yard. At the same time Adam was walking home, Mr. Rickferd was playing with his
train set. He had a figure set up in a dark allyway, and a figure walking the same route as Mr. Adam Tucker.
When Adam walked pass the ally way on his night walk home, he felt like he was being followed.
At that same time, Mr. Rickferd was moving around all the pieces on his train set to set everything into play.
While Adam ignored his feeling after he turned around and saw no one. He continued to walk further and further
down the sidewalk, until he passed another allyway, and Mr. Adam Tucker's screams were never heard over the sound of the 7 o'clock train passing by.
