I am obsessed by Egyptology, so much here I am in a country, that is as old, as the desert sands
I am in a place where the ancient city of Alexandria used to be
In it's day, this was the most powerful city through out the land
A harbor city, long ago lost, supposedly sank from the eyes, of men like me.
From what I know, Cleopatra, made this place her home, centuries ago
So, I am here, just to be able to stand, where the great ancients once did
I make a wrong step, falling into some sort of building, I know from long ago
Looking around, small flash light in hand, I know this place for many years has been hid.
Dust, and cobwebs everywhere, my eyes have to adjust to the darkness at hand
What I am a witness too, well I just can't believe it
Everywhere, there are shelves, of rolled papyrus and scrolls, all this is under the desert sand
I try my best to really see, but here in unending darkness, by my light things are dimly lit.
If I am where I think I am, I have made the biggest find of all times
From my dim light, I can make out the outline of table and chairs
In this place, there is a defining silence, everything is as silent as a mime
In this place, that has been hid for so long, all I can do is stare.
I start to look at the ancient scrolls on the shelves, in a place, I just can't conceive
A few scrolls are la bled from Atlantis, I see the complete works of Socrates and Plato
Here lie the secrets of mankind's existence, if only mankind will believe
Luckily, I can read hyroglifs, but this find, well the face of mankind, is changed forever, if only mankind will relish this, take hold.
This place searched for, for centuries, but by accident, it was found by me
This library, this place, hid for so long, some would say, this just can't be
This ancient repository, all secrets of the ancients, have always been held here, for everyone to see
What a spectacular archeological find, as I stand here in Alexandria, a place no one could ever find, this repository, mankind's ancient library.
