I find the last couple of weeks before the baby comes is the hardest. Just because of nervous anticipation alone. Especially when the due date approaches. With my first one, I took off work before the due date. I ended out sitting at home listening to a movie I'd put in the VCR (we didn't have a DVD player at the time) playing computer games, eating popcorn and drinking chocolate milk while waiting for anything to happen. Finally, it got to the point my doctor wanted me to get up at 6:00 AM on a certain day to schedule a time to make the baby come if he hadn't come on his own yet. The night before that day, my water broke. So, I've always said if he wasn't born when he was, he would still have the same birthday. My second one wasn't so troublesome when it came to him coming.

I really thought we'd be having her last night/this morning. Had a nice long practice round yesterday - contractions on and off for four hours!!! My back was killing me by the time we finally went to bed yesterday! But, woke up this morning after eight solid hours of sleep (only had to get up once during the night!!!) and went to the doctor where I was told that I'm still not dilated. Oh well. But he wants to see me again on Monday - if nothing happens this weekend. Here's hoping that I won't be seeing him at his office Monday!!!!!!

Four hours of false labor. Ug. My fingers are crossed for you. I can honestly say you're frequently in my thoughts.
I've got issues of my own going on right now. Testing for gestational diabetes. Round one: I go in to the lab, the nurse states "You're lucky it's just a finger prick." Well, the prick resulted in blood sugar 19 higher than they like, so it's a blood draw. Results: Doctor wants me to do it again first thing in the morning before breakfast.
Round 2: I go in this morning, finger prick and milking (you know, when they fill those tiny little 'vials' for other tests) blood sugar still 10 higher than they like. To avoid the bruise from the one tuesday, she tried my other arm. Not able to find a vein after prodding around fishing for one. She tries the one picked on Tuesday, still not able to find it. She calls to the other nurse "Salvage this." she says. Other nurse fishes around, finally finds it.
From Tuesday's "Lucky it's just a finger prick", it's ended out with 2 finger pricks (that looks like a tiny bite from a vampire now) 2 draws from one arm, and one failed attempt in another. Not so lucky now.
Sometimes, I just have to vent. But, back to Hermy... As I was saying my thoughts are with you, and I'm hoping Sadie decides to make her debut appearance soon. I'm about as excited as an aunt over your girl. ;D

Best of luck Hermy! You'll be in my thoughts in a "good vibes" sort of way. You'll be meeting little Sadie in no time.
And by the way....20 inches. I forgot to add that before.

Ah well, folks. Went back to the doctor this morning. Due date's come and gone as of Saturday. I got the wonderful news that not only am I not dilated any, I'm not even effaced (which is the step before dilation). That means that all these lovely contractions I've been having and will continue to have are just for fun. It also means that we go back to the doctor Friday morning. Our doctor does not like to let moms go past one week late so it looks like we're going to be induced, unless we have a lot of BIG changes and fast. So, there you go.
I'm really hoping to avoid induction - I'd like to keep everything as natural as possible - so please send me some vibes that I'll at least make some progress before Friday gets here, even if I don't fully go into labor. The doctor said that when women at the stage I currently am in get induced, it can take up to a day and a half for labor to start, and then that usually leads to C-sections. We really don't want that.
Thanks for all the concern and well-wishes, and hopefully you'll be hearing from me (or MIB) soon, about little baby Sadie!!!

Hey, don't worry about it Hermy... whatever happens is for the best. It will all work out great in the end.

I'd nearly had to be induced for my first one, but my water broke. They still had to get drugs in me to get the labor going, but I was able to have him the way nature intended...plus an epidural so I could stand the pain of labor. The second one was similar, but I started having mild contractions before they induced me.
I pray that you start to have progress with the delivery of Sadie. It is such a neat experience holding a newborn baby that you work so hard to bring into the world.

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes, guys. We're starting to get excited over knowing that we'll have a little Sadie sometime this weekend. It's kinda nice not having to wait and wonder anymore...

So, here goes, right? OldSkool and I are up and about this morning, getting ready for our trip to the doctor, and hopefully the hospital after that. While there is the slim chance that the doctor will decide to let us wait a few more days, we aren't counting on it. We both pretty much think it'll be today. We've got our hospital bag packed and we're all psyched to get a baby sometime this weekend, so here's hoping it'll be today anyway!!! Thanks to everyone who has been keeping up with us. Please continue to keep me, Sadie, OldSkool, and the doctor and hospital staff in your thoughts and prayers this weekend. Hopefully you won't be hearing from me for several days, but perhaps MIB can get a chance to get on here and let everyone know what's going on. However, if we do end up waiting a few more days, I'll be on to let you all know. Otherwise, it'll be safe to assume we've welcomed Sadie to the world!!!

Good luck, Hermy. I hope to hear from MIB this weekend that Sadie's been born and you are resting up in the hospital after an uneventful delivery.
If she is born tomorrow like I guessed, she'll be born on my youngest boy's 3rd birthday!

Snarfy snarfy poo!!! So we went to the doctor this morning. Nothing much had changed - blood pressure still good, only gained half a pound, Sadie's still active, and I'm still not dilated any. So, the doctor decided to wait a little longer. He wants to give me until I get 10 days over, which means that we are now looking at being induced Tuesday morning. While we are happy that we have another shot at going natural, we were kinda looking forward to getting to meet Sadie this weekend! But, perhaps things will happen and we'll get her anyway! Just wanted to let you all know what was going on, and that I will most likely be around for the weekend!!! I'll let you know if anything changes!!

Aw, I was hoping to get the birth date correct. If you're not dialating as of yesterday, there's not much chance of baby today. Of course, it would be interesting if she does decide that you can have your first Mother's Day as a mother this year. I was really hoping to read something different when I got on here today. Still hoping and looking for the big announcement of Sadie joining the community here.
