We rang in 2008 on Lake Marion in Santee State Park. They have ten pier cabins that are actually out on 2 piers over the water! It's a beautiful place and we had a blast... This thread may take a minute to load but I think the pictures are worth it as they give you an interesting view of a place you've probably never been. Here is our cabin on the rainy day we arrived... Bobbins is peeking out the door This is a good view of the pier and cabins - Ours is the one on the end This is the epitome of "waterfront" Morning deer tracks The water levels were down tremendously but the birds don't seem to care Drago have you ever done this to a boat? These cypress trees rocked! My Mom beachcombing Silly Bobbins and his all weather umbrella The cabins each had a walkway that went around the whole building... what fun! Cypress sunset The low water made for a unique landscape I've never seen this many freshwater shells I couldn't get enough of the textures on this beach "I think that I shall never see A poem lovely as a tree" - Joyce Kilmer It's always nice to see Mom enjoy herself this much Fireworks + Water = Magic Golden sundown The Santee area is pocked with limestone sinkholes and these neat little water spiders were skipping around in a sinkhole pond we walked to Spider takeoff! A Sinkhole pond The Bobbins and his camel You will see pine trees at Santee! The graves of a million trees My Mom recalls carving limestone as a girl Is this the Santee lake monster? Or is this the Santee lake monster? YIKES! Where there is live oak and cypress there is Spanish moss

I love the picture of the sea monster! Your kid is adorable. I'm guessing you're the 'camel'?

Yep, I'm the camel. My Mom found that sea monster, she's a lot like me in the imagination department

I bet my kids would like that wooden sea monster pic about as much as they like your Transformers sig. I'll have to show that to them tonight.

Thanks Drago.
That's the first time I've ever seen a boat done that way myself, but it does look like an awful good way to sneak up on wildlife, for hunting or picture taking. I am guessing that these fellows were deer hunting that morning.

Thanks Drago. That's the first time I've ever seen a boat done that way myself, but it does look like an awful good way to sneak up on wildlife, for hunting or picture taking. I am guessing that these fellows were deer hunting that morning. I'm pretty that they were duck hunting. That's a typical set up for duck hunters, but it would be helpful to see a dog in the pic. That would be the cincher.

They didn't have a dog, I was right by the boat ramp when they unloaded. But they definitely could have been fowl hunting because there were birds everywhere.
