Gandalf could not have been more perfectly cast. Ian Mckellan exudes Gandalf he becomes him. Frodo on the other hand, I'm not so sure. Elijah Wood did not do it for me at all until I had seen the whole story. His portrayal of the ring bearing hobbit came into focus a bit better after seeing ROTK. Still it will never be a perfect fit for me. Have to give some respect to Shawn Astin also - Sam was dead on. So was Aragorn: Viggo Mortensen.

Can't forget Legolas - Orlando Bloom was great (even though he was in a blond wig).

I agree MIB. That was perfect. No one else could have embodied him like that.

Lol just kiddin' Gandalf was perfect but so was Aragorn. In fact the casting was brilliant all around. Don't forget about the job they did on Golum, talk about the perfect voice and animations!

yeah, I agree, everyone was perfectly cast except frodo, he is a little creepy, I think it's his eyes. my favorite had to be sam. I think he was the key to getting the ring there, I don't think frodo could have done it without sam.

The cast of this movie was spot on! I can go on for hours about it but I thought I'd let you all know I completely support that movie! ;D

Aren't they going to remake The Hobbit? It looks possible but nothing is certain right now... "As luck would have it, I interviewed Peter Jackson this afternoon. We talked about everything he's involved in and in the next week you'll see the interview go up in pieces, including one about THE HOBBIT. But he did say that he woke up this morning to see that MGM says he's making THE HOBBIT with them, which was strange. He said that as unbelievable as it may be, he's never once talked to any studio, be it New Line or MGM, about doing THE HOBBIT. So, as of today Jackson has not talked to anybody about doing the movie, but he did say he'd like to do it, even though his schedule gets more crowded every passing week. So, if MGM wants to do this thing it might be a good idea to see if Jackson is up for it, no?" www.aintitcool.com/?q=node/24456

This is eerily similar to a thread on another board in which I replied: "I'd love to see Peter Jackson do the Hobbit." Just try not to get a mental picture of that!
